I aim to help my clients build up their skills to enable them to explore any music they are interested in - with the goal of lifelong enjoyment of making music by themselves and with others.
Background
My musical education started in Wellington with piano and singing lessons which gave me structure and one-on-one guidance. Discovering choirs at school showed me the joy of creating music as part of a group and I took part in as many choral opportunities as possible, leading me to sing throughout New Zealand and overseas as part of the New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir 2007-2008 and 2009-2010.
I graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Music (majoring in Contemporary Voice Performance).
Other past musical experiences include membership in the Wellington Youth Choir, the Southern Youth Choir, and the Southern Consort of Voices.
I was the Choir Director for Kaikorai Valley College from 2015-2022, and Choir Director at John McGlashan College from 2020-2023. I was also involved with Music Education Otago’s annual Ukulele Jam for several years.
Currently
During the week I teach voice and piano lessons through Mah Music both at home and online. I also offer private lessons on-site at two Dunedin schools and am on staff at both:
Music Specialist at Liberton Christian School (since 2019).
Choir Director at St Hilda’s Collegiate School (since 2023).
Outside of teaching, I hold a volunteer leadership and administration role in the worship ministry at Dunedin City Baptist Church.
